Land Code è un’opera di land art che abbiamo realizzato in occasione di un workshop con degli studenti dell’Accademia di Foggia che aveva per tema la storia del Regio Tratturo Pescasseroli - Candela, una sorta di autostrada di erba lunga 211 Km che per due millenni le greggi di pecore hanno percorso nella loro transumanza che le portava nel corso dell’anno dalle montagne dell’appennino al mare e viceversa. Pur non essendo più utilizzato, il Tratturo è quasi tutto ancora percorribile a piedi o a cavallo.
Abbiamo quindi deciso di realizzare un grande landmark in pietra bianca e nera. Un codice che tramite uno smartphone permettesse di collegarsi ad un sito web dove abbiamo inserito i contenuti della settimana di lavoro con i giovani artisti: immagini, progetti, testi.
Ci ha affascinato l’idea di utilizzare un materiale concreto e antico come la pietra, legandolo all'immaterialità del world wide web, il tutto in uno scenario naturale incantevole.

Land Code is a land art work we made on the occasion of a workshop with some students of the Art Academy of Foggia whose theme was the history of the “Regio Tratturo Pescasseroli-Candela”, a 211 Km long “grassy highway” which flocks of sheep for two millennia have gone through during their transhumance from the Apennines’ mountains to the sea and vice versa throughout the year. The Tratturo isn’t used anymore for the transhumance but is still passable on foot or horseback.
We then decided to make a big landmark in black and white stones. A code that would allow everyone by using a smartphone to connect to a website where we put the contents of the work week with the young artists: images, sketches, texts. What we loved was the idea of using a tangible and old material such as the stone and tye it to the immateriality of the World Wide Web, all in a fascinating natural scenery.
