Il gruppo curatoriale dell'ISP 2014 del Whitney Museum di New York ci ha invitato alla mostra Common Spaces che si è inaugurata nella galleria The Kitchen a Chelsea.
Abbiamo così deciso di realizzare una nuova versione di Costellazione di me incentrata sulle trasformazioni sociali e urbanistiche che negli ultimi decenni hanno coinvolto il quartiere newyorkese di Chelsea e i suoi abitanti.
Durante le due settimane di permanenza a NYC abbiamo tenuto un laboratorio di preparazione presso l'Hudson Guild, un centro sociale per anziani di Chelsea, dove alcune persone ci hanno raccontato la loro storia e le trasformazioni del quartiere dove hanno vissuto la loro vita. Ne è scaturita una mappa immaginaria dei luoghi che ormai non esistono più, se non nella loro mente, che insieme alla trama dei loro racconti è diventata la struttura portante dell'installazione di parole che loro stessi ci hanno aiutato a tracciare sulle pareti di The Kitchen.

The curatorial team ISP 2014 of the Whitney Museum in New York City invited us to the group show Common Spaces held at The Kitchen gallery in Chelsea.
We decided to make a new version of Constellation of me focused on the social and urban transformations that in recent decades have involved the New York City borough of Chelsea and its inhabitants.
During the two-weeks stay in NYC we held a preparatory workshop at the Hudson Guild, a social center for the elderly in Chelsea, where some people told us their story and the transformation of the neighborhood where they lived. The result was an imaginary map of the places that no longer exist, if not in their mind, which together with the plot of their stories became the backbone of the installation of words that they helped us to write on the walls of The Kitchen.
